SHC allows Fahmiza Mirza, husband Zulfiqar to contest elections 2024.

Karachi: The Sindh High Court has authorized former National Assembly speaker Fahmida Mirza and her husband Zulfiqar Mirza to run in the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 8. The court’s decision came in response to a petition filed by the couple challenging the rejection of their nomination papers.

Fahmida Mirza and Zulfiqar Mirza had submitted their nomination papers for the National Assembly constituency NA-223, with the latter also filing for PS-70, PS-71, and PS-72. The returning officers and the election tribunal had dismissed their nomination papers, citing allegations of being bank defaulters.

Nevertheless, the Sindh High Court upheld the constitutional petitions of both candidates, allowing them the opportunity to participate in the upcoming elections.
