HYDERABAD/SUKKUR: Rashid Soomro likely to contest elections against Bilawal Bhutto : Rashid Mahmood Soomro, the secretary general of the Sindh chapter of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), has revealed that he has submitted his application for a party ticket to contest the election against PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. However, he emphasized that the final decision rests with the party.

During a press conference in Sukkur on Sunday, the JUI-F leader questioned how the PPP plans to run its election campaign in Punjab and other provinces after its poor performance in Sindh. He highlighted the severe issues faced by the people of Sindh, including inadequate education, healthcare, and other facilities. Soomro stated that it is incorrect to create the perception that only one party can win in Sindh.

Soomro expressed reservations about the appointment of Returning Officers (ROs) and District Returning Officers (DROs) from the bureaucracy on behalf of the Election Commission, suggesting that their previous experience should be taken into account if the EC believes transparent elections can be conducted through these officers. In response to a question, he mentioned that ten parties had objected to the delimitation process, yet it was carried out at the request of the PPP.

During the event, influential politician Mir Mahar from Sukkur announced his decision to join the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F). Mahar stated that he has always strived to represent the people, having secured over 18,000 votes in the previous elections. He found the JUI-F to be an ideological party and pledged to work as an active member of the JUI-F.
