Lahore” Punjab schools to remain closed on Friday, Saturday: In an effort to address the issue of smog, the Punjab government has made the decision to close all educational institutions in six districts of the province on Fridays and Saturdays.

Following a meeting of the provincial cabinet, Interim Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi announced during a media briefing that businesses, including markets and restaurants, would be allowed to open after 3pm. Additionally, markets would remain closed on Sundays.

Furthermore, government offices that operate on Fridays and Saturdays will begin their operations at 3pm. These measures will be implemented in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, and Sahiwal.

Regarding the possibility of artificial rain, the caretaker chief minister mentioned that if the conditions are favorable on November 29, artificial rain will be induced on that day.

Naqvi also highlighted other initiatives, such as providing electric bikes on subsidy to 10,000 students and offering government employees the opportunity to lease these bikes.

In an effort to promote clean air, the entry of vehicles on Lahore’s Mall Road will be prohibited on Sundays, with only bicycles permitted.

Due to the severe air pollution levels, these decisions will be immediately implemented in the aforementioned cities.

Furthermore, the interim chief minister informed that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed to install air purifier towers in Lahore.
