Saveera Parkash makes history as the inaugural Hindu woman to participate in elections in Pakistan.

PESHAWAR – Marking a significant milestone in Pakistani politics, the first female minority candidate has officially submitted nomination papers for a general seat.

Dr. Saveera Parkash, a medical professional, creates history by entering the political arena for the first time, expressing her hopes of securing victory in the upcoming general elections.

Hailing from the Buner district in the country’s northwestern region, she is a member of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), with her family maintaining a steadfast allegiance to the PPP for decades.

Dr. Parkash submitted her nomination papers for the PK-25 constituency, where she is poised to compete against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

In an interview with a local publication, Saveera emphasized her commitment to serving the underprivileged, particularly women who have long endured suppression and neglect.

This courageous woman, defying conventional norms, completed her MBBS at Abbottabad Medical College in 2022 and currently holds the position of general secretary of the PPP women’s wing in Buner.

Saveera’s decision to participate in the elections has garnered support from activists, who commend her for breaking entrenched stereotypes
