Ishaq Dar gets portfolio of new foreign minister of Pakistan
Report By Imtiaz Hussain Abro.
Ishaq Dar, a prominent figure within the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and a close kin of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, a highly sought-after position.
This decision came after President Asif Ali Zardari administered the oath to the 19-member federal cabinet of newly inaugurated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Shehbaz had submitted a proposal to President Zardari for the formation of the cabinet, which included 18 federal ministers and one minister of state.
The PPP, the primary ally of PML-N, declined to join the federal cabinet.
The oath-taking ceremony was held at the President House in Islamabad, commencing with the playing of the national anthem and followed by the recitation of the Holy Quran.
