FIRs ordered over banners on public properties.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has mandated the filing of cases against political parties and companies responsible for placing banners and advertisements on public property.

In its written verdict addressing a petition against the placement of billboards, signboards, and banners on public spaces, the SHC ordered the registration of FIRs against candidates whose names, images, or posters appear on such public property. The court reiterated its directive to the Karachi commissioner, DCs, KMC, and cantonment boards of the city to ensure the prompt removal of all billboards, hoardings, and advertisements from public areas. An implementation report is to be submitted by the authorities on January 29.

A division bench led by Justice Nadeem Akhtar earlier questioned the provincial law officer, KMC, and others regarding the progress in removing billboards from public properties. The Cantonment Board Clifton affirmed the removal of all billboards within its jurisdiction, while an official from Malir Cantonment Board clarified that no permission had been granted for installing billboards on any public property.
