PTI loses bat symbol as CJP Qazi Faez Isa restores ECP order ahead of General Election 2024.

On Saturday, the Supreme Court overturned the Peshawar High Court’s (PHC) ruling that reinstated the “bat” as the electoral symbol for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the upcoming general elections. The verdict, announced shortly before midnight, concluded a two-day hearing.

After considering arguments from both PTI and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa stated that he would consult his fellow judges before providing his observations. The CJP remarked, “Both sides presented their case effectively. We will deliberate and see what conclusions we reach; I cannot provide any definitive statement at this moment.” The bench then took a break.

The three-member bench, consisting of the CJP, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, and Justice Musarrat Hilali, presided over the ECP’s petition challenging the PHC’s decision to reinstate PTI’s election symbol.
