Dec 27 declared holiday in Sindh

Govt announces holiday to commemorate former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s 16th death anniversary.

KARACHI: The interim government of Sindh, on Tuesday, declared a public holiday on December 27th (tomorrow) to commemorate the 16th death anniversary of the former Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto.

The spokesperson for Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (Retd) Maqbool Baqar issued the announcement, designating a public holiday throughout the province for tomorrow.

In the official notification released today, it stated, “The Government of Sindh has decided to observe December 27, 2023 (Wednesday) as a Public Holiday across the Province of Sindh in remembrance of the martyrdom of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed. This holiday is applicable to all offices, Autonomous and Semi-Autonomous Bodies, Corporations, and Local Councils under the Administrative control of the Government of Sindh, with the exception of essential services.”

Additionally, the Sindh government had previously declared December 25th (Monday) as a public holiday in celebration of the birth anniversary of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and to mark the festivities of Christmas.
