Ex-interim interior minister Sarfraz Bugti joins PPPP: Former interim interior minister Sarfraz Bugti, who resigned from his position last week, surprised many by joining the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Monday. Initially, there were reports in the media suggesting that Bugti had resigned to run in the upcoming general elections on the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ticket. However, during a PPP workers convention in Turbat, Bugti announced his decision to join the PPP in the presence of PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and other party leaders. Bugti expressed his happiness about participating in the general elections as a PPP candidate. The general elections are scheduled to take place on February 8 next year, following the issuance of the polling schedule by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) based on orders from the Supreme Court. Bugti expressed his hope that Zardari’s leadership would bring peace to Balochistan and urged him to establish a modern hospital in Turbat, similar to the one in Sukkur, to improve healthcare services for the local population. Bugti also promised to make the PPP a progressive party under Zardari’s guidance and emphasized that the PPP would counter the negative narratives against Pakistan. Prior to joining the PPP, Bugti was associated with the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).
