Sindh refutes allegations of submitting a petition against the Supreme Court’s decision on military court trials.: A spokesperson for the caretaker chief minister of Sindh has refuted the notion that the provincial government has submitted a review appeal against the Supreme Court’s verdict.

“The Advocate General’s office, in a clarification to Chief Minister Maqbool Baqar, has affirmed that neither the law department nor any other department of the province has initiated the filing of a review petition in this case,” stated the spokesperson.

Sources indicate that Caretaker Chief Minister Maqbool Baqar, who was in Islamabad yesterday, upon returning from the federal capital today, directed the issuance of a clarification regarding the matter.

Earlier reports from mainstream media suggested that the caretaker government of Sindh had contested the Supreme Court’s decision opposing trials of civilians in military courts.

On October 23, the Supreme Court (SC) delivered a 4-1 verdict on pleas challenging civilian trials in military courts. The PTI chairman and others had approached the top court, disputing the military trial of civilians involved in the May 09 riots sparked by the arrest of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
